But over the years I have landed my airplane so to speak on this belief. Sewing should be enjoyable, patterns should be simple and fabric should be gorgeous!
My sweet mother taught me to sew doll bedding as a little girl. She brought fabrics to church for me to play with and keep quiet. I would lay it over my dolls while playing on the pew.
As I got older she taught me to hand sew, and her mother taught me to hand quilt. My dad bought me little miniature dolls and furniture to play with in church.
It now explains why I love to sew and still make miniature things for my Etsy shop.
my full time business.
The patterns are very simple, and a young girl could even follow the pictures and make the items.
I believe in straight line sewing, and pretty fabric for the end result.
My favorite things that have been passed down to me are little doll quilts my grandmother made for me.
They are simple patchwork blocks and designs...
but her hands cut the fabric, her sewing machine was used to sew the doll quilts...
I have nothing else similar that means so much....
she made this...
and I love it.
So if for any other reason, I always want to encourage people, if you can sew a straight line, try my patterns.
I think you will enjoy the process, I make it easy with step by step pictures. And then your special someone will enjoy the end result!
I think it is worth a try!
I have patterns now for American Girl sized doll bedding, dollhouse bedding and now Barbie, Blythe and Monster High Doll bedding.
If you make something I'd love to see it.
You can always hashtag your finished work with #RibbonwoodCottageDesigns
