Hey everyone! I hope you are all well.
We are getting ready for Spring and Easter, and all the family activities that go with those special days.
I created a quick and easy to make tote bag. And I made a pattern for it. I believe easy patterns + pretty fabric = a wonderful finished project.
I've been busy creating and sewing and making patterns, but in the midst of all this work I had something wonderful happen!
A British Doll House Magazine did a feature on my Ribbonwood Cottage Etsy shop in February and the things I have created for it.
That was pretty exciting for me.
But let's get back to our tote bag.
****************
Tote bags already are pretty easy. Fold fabric in half, sew two sides, add handles....voila you have a tote bag! Hahaha....so I added my favorite layered rose petal flowers as embellishments, but those are optional too.
I use pictures along with directions so that the sewing and putting the tote together is easy, even beginning seamstresses. I learned to sew with a sewing machine when I was 9. Yes there were mistakes, but I loved pretty fabric and dreaming about what I would make out of it!
Here is the tote empty...
Here below is the tote with my IPad, my Planner (Webster's Pages Planner) and a Kate Spade Notebook.
When I am working, I often sketch a design, write out the details of how I think it needs to be made, what I need to purchase-fabric, buttons, interfacing, trim, thread, etc.
So in making this I wanted all those items to fit in the tote. I also wanted pockets, not too big and wide that things tip over, but the phone will stand up, the glasses, room for pens and pencils, keys...etc.
Easy directions for sewing this up.
It would be a great Mother's Day gift, or Bridal tote (use pretty trims, laces, gorgeous fabric), a tote for the beach, a teenager, a little one....
I just love it! You can find it here @
Let me know what you think! I would love your feedback and I'd love to see pictures too!
