How to Tutorial-Valentine Fabric Envelope

Let's make this easy Valentine gift envelope!

It is so easy!
When you are done it can be filled with all kinds of fun things.
I used cotton fabric that was made for Valentine's day.
You will need barely 1/2 yard of red fabric, and a tiny scrap of alternating fabric for the heart.
********************
I cut a piece of fabric 37" long and 8 1/2 " wide.
Fold it right sides together like photo shows.
Only pin long sides together and leave top open...
Sew both sides and then turn right side out.

Next you are going to press the top part....turn 1/4" inside and press this down....gives you a clean edge to sew down.

Next, pin this opening closed, you are going to sew across this area in just a minute.
Pressing all the sides down gives it a very smooth look. You will have a rectangle piece of fabric now...
Fold your fabric up 7" now from the bottom ....this forms the envelope...

This is how your envelope should now look....
But it can't stay this way! We need to embellish it and pretty it up!
Cut a 3" square piece of alternating fabric.
Fold it in half...remember grade school?
How we made endless hearts?
Well you are going to cut the fabric just like that.
NOW FOR THE RAGGED EDGE APPLIQUE...EASY PEASY...YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS!
Pin your heart down in several places so it does not move while you are sewing it.
Sew 1/4" from the edge...usually the edge of your sewing machine foot is the guideline for 1/4" of an inch.
Finally, I hot glued (you could sew it too) a tulle (netting) bow, then a tiny organza bow
and topped it off with a little rosebud. I did several more and topped them with some little heart buttons I found.
Next is the fun part! Fill it with colored pens, crayons, Valentines, boxes of candy and give to your favorite person!
I hope you make several. Once I got going it was hard to stop....I made several!
Blessings,
Debbie

You are a God sent.
