Flannel shirt to DIY Flannel Pillows

Welcome everyone to 31 Days of Fall Nesting!

During the cooler months I enjoy being outside,
wearing a sweater, scarf, boots, jeans....

Love all that fall brings with it.
We enjoy sitting outside, once all the chores are done, eggs have been collected, chickens have been fed...

Cows have been milked...We just got 3 cows...which I will post pictures later...they are trying to adjust to their new home...

All that to say, we enjoy sitting on the back porch.  Me snuggled up in a quilt trying not to freeze...
I made a couple of plaid pillows for the porch out of flannel shirts.
I looked and looked for the right plaid...
I found lots of red plaids but I wanted something....
Fallish...
So I had the thought, to go get a couple of fall colored flannel shirts from the thrift store and then make pillows out of them.
I laid the shirt on the floor and straightened it out....
then decided where it should be cut
I simply cut the top and the bottom of the shirt off along with the sleeves.  That left me with a rectangle so to speak. I turned it inside out (so the right sides were together) and began sewing on the edge of the fabric at the top and bottom (which will be the inside of the pillow) .
Next I turned the shirt inside out again, unbuttoned it, stuffed it and then buttoned it closed.

The buttons are on the backside of the pillow...
it made making the pillow easy because I didn't have to sew it closed...
I just buttoned it closed!

I've made a few now....I even stalked my hubby's closet to see if there were some plaid shirts I had overlooked.
I don't know...I might want to make a skirt, or a pair of pants....

Just kidding!
Blessings,
Debbie
