I've been working on a project....
a good friend of mine gave me an old door....chippy, worn, distressed...
love it.

I kept looking at it thinking I wonder if it would fit on a bookshelf (pressed particle board shelves from Walmart about 25.00)
And yes it fit measurement wise. The door was a little taller than the bookshelf if you will look closely at the top picture but it really didn't matter to me.
They drilled nicely into the door but I had heard if you didn't first drill a hole into the particle board it might split so I drilled a hold where the screws would go.
I won't bore you with another drill picture but the screws went in where the little holes were.
Below the picture shows where the door knob use to go which I don't have any more...but this same friend gave me a door knocker that was of a garden hand trowel....swoon went my heart!
On the top shelves I stacked many of my vintage quilt collection.
In the bottom shelves I stacked some of my fabrics that I make tablerunners and quilts for my Etsy shop. Storage is key!

I was very blessed last Sunday to have my oldest son preach at our church as our new Pastor, and our middle son flew in from Las Vegas with a group of friends and they led worship. I tell you what! I was so blown away by God's goodness...you know when you are raising kids and they do crazy dumb stuff you just wonder....and then all the sudden they are grown...these young men are beyond any of my dreams or expectations....I was so proud and so humbled all at the same time. I felt like God had blessed me in such an incredible way I don't even have words to describe how happy I am!
Yay!
blessings,
Debbie

Lovely project & story about the boys.
Oh my gosh! I would never have thought to attach an old door to the front of a set of shelves! Great idea!!
I think I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for old doors now. Brilliant make.
What a great way to add so much charm to plain book shelves. Love it!
