Complete Farmhouse-Shabby Remoedel

How fun I"m joining in with Carrie and Susan for blog parties! Oh go on and click on their names to see all the fun going on!
Over a year ago we remodeled our home so that we could move my parents in with us. They are in their upper 80's and we wanted them not to worry about their home, taking care of things, doctor appointments and managing every day things which had become very burdensome.
I will let you decide what is the before and after shots! Hahaha...believe me you will be able to tell!
The upstairs belonged to our teenagers! Every gadget, tv, playstation, etc known to a teenager they had in our farmhouse.  After all you can only do so many farm chores, the sun goes down and it is time to be a
teenager!  They are all gone to college now, so we gave my parents the downstairs master bedroom and we redid the upstairs kid zone and made it ours.
My wonderful husband said I could repaint everything walls and furniture we already owned....so I went with Farmhouse-Shabby!
The boys tv cabinet now white holds our little tv....
The bookshelf we had to slice the upper edge off to accomodate the ceilings upstairs.  All farm/animal books...
The bathroom beyond the doorway is new since the upstairs had a tiny toilet and sink area...not even a bathroom.
My parents are all settled in and content for the most part.  I think that it is the navigating (living life) through rough waters and peaceful waters that counts just as much as getting to shore!  We are trying to navigate successfully .....thanks for visiting a little bit of my voyage!
Blessings,
Debbie

What a warm and generous heart you have, Debbie. if I were lucky enough to still have my parents alive, I would do the same in a heartbeat if I could.

Your master bedroom is beautiful! It was such a great idea to cut the shelves. I have eaves in both my guest rooms and never thought of doing that.

I hope all is well with you and your family!

XO,
Jane

Good for you for moving your parents in with you. We may have to do that with my Mom some day, but hopefully not for a few years yet! You've done a beautiful job transforming your space! I bet it's nice and cosy up there under the eaves. We have them in our bedroom, too, and though they're a challenge, I love them. Like sleeping in a tent every night!

What a beautiful renovation. . . I love the shabby farmhouse look. You are so blessed to be taking care of your parents in their later years. How blessed they are to have a daughter like you. God bless you all. Hugs, Karie

How very wonderful of you to bring your parents to live with you in their late years. We are missing out on so much when we do not take care of family in this manner I believe. My husbands parents are in mid 80's and Mom is in beginning stages of Alzheimers. Know the day will come when we will be doing the same thing and I will call it a blessing.

So much to love about your redo!!! THe wall color is fantastic! Love the idea of snipping the corner off the bookcase to make it fit!

Love your upstairs makeover Debbie!
I have an upstairs dormer bedroom too and I know what a challenge it can be to work with the sloped ceilings. You did a great job and it looks lovely. Following back :)

I love that verse too ~ Lately, especially, I have just

What an amazing transformation. Your bedroom is beautiful! We have been going through issues with aging parents recently too. Ours live out of town, not with us. It is a difficult time and sort of sad to watch, isn't it?
