"Don't decorate with red!"~Farmer Hubby

When we married 30 (50?) no 30 years ago~Farmer hubby said whatever you do...."don't decorate with red or yellow!" What was I to do? I love those colors?
Those colors are happy colors....you walk in a room and see them.....and you say..."ooooh" in your little heart!
Darkness is gone, happy thoughts are there instead.

So when I had painted the walls yellow and he walked in I told him the color was called "Cow Hay"....(giggle) I had to talk Farm Talk to this Farmer~

The chairs are covered in Rooster fabric....how could he not like roosters or chickens? We have had hundreds of them outside~! They are RED~! Rhode Island Red!!!

The curtains got to him~ I casually mentioned they were the color of Tomatoes....he loves Tomatoes!

Well and here are his friends right here~ They all agreed with me~
Bless his heart! Hubby just had to be trained, that's all! When decorating~talk in terms your husband can understand ladies~

Happily playing along with Susan over @ BetweenNapsonthePorch!

I love red and yellow too. My house was all yellow before I moved to where I am now and it's red in the kitchen here. Rooster, well they just make me happy no matter what color they are.

Hi Debbie! Oh, I love this post! I'm so glad you got your hubby to see the light about yellow and red! I agree with you - they are the most wonderful colors. I think almost every room needs a shot of red!
Now I'm in love with those two Rooster chairs! I think they're the bees knees! :)
I love seeing all you're sweet vignettes and your table!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)

oh Debbie your post today made me laugh! I love all your red and yellow, oops...haystack & tomato :) I've had to do the same thing with colors in my house, the name has to mean something to my DH so I can get him past what 'he thinks' he doesn't like!

Too funny! Glad you've gotten Mr. Farmhouse to come around, Debbie. How could he not be happy? Your home is so warm, fun, and inviting...

Thanks for checking in! Busy days here as always. I seem to get more done that way. HA!

What wonderful eye candy you've provided today! And how clever you are to "translate" your decor into husband-language! I love all your red and yellow, especially that first table setting, and those chairs covered in roosters are amazing!

It all looks lovely to me! I love red and yellow... and green and peach and purple and... well, you get the idea. My living room is yellow and my den is red. My hubby was the same about the red and made me repaint a lovely red room once. :^( Now he's more understanding, too, but his den is pale green. I can't imagine a farmhouse without the red and yellow, although I'm sure there must be some. ;^D

Great advice. Your colors are spectacular and I really much know about those darling fabric strawberries. Did you make them, buy them? If so where? I would be happy to buy some from you if you make and sell them. Please let me know.
Many thanks, Loretta
