Decoupaged Calendar/Planner cover-PINK!

I'm embarrassed to say it has been in the 70's here in S. California. Very cold at night but warm during the day...and yes we have even been drinking Ice Tea!
I don't know about you but at the first of the year I always get new calendars, planners, birthday calendar books...etc. It is important to me to remember birthdays and so I always take a little time and write in everyone's birthday so I can at least send them a card for a memento for their birthday.

I don't care for the generic look of a daily appointment book so I decided to take the cover off and make my own cover ....with decoupage of course.
I actually think this would be a good gift for a newly married couple with everyone's birthdays in it so they can get started with the birthday traditions that the family carries on.

Below is the scrapbook paper pad I used. It has a lot of sweet paper in it...lots of hearts. (from Joann's.)
I took the plastic cover off...the outside of the planner is now just plain cardboard.
Next I laid it on the paper I chose and traced around it to get the right size fit. I added an inch or two to the edges. You are going to fold the paper over the inside flap and glue down!

After you have cut the paper the right size and folded the inside flaps down, you will want to apply the Modge Podge to the outside and just inside the flaps.

Wipe off any excess Modge Podge...make sure that while your planner is drying that the pages don't touch each other or any part of the planner dries itself shut!
So I would stand it up while it is drying. Next I added some quotes. I found that the vellum quotes dried well on one side and on the front side it wrinkled up! You need to keep rubbing it down while it is drying. Or just type your own quote on cardstock (works the best I think with M.P.) and apply that to your new planner.

To add a little frill I added ribbon and a sweet little button.

On the inside I added stickers on special family birthdays and anniversaries.
It was quite easy...and I love the look of my little planner as opposed to the generic look. However....sometimes generic is the way to go when you just don't have the time! Been there done that!

Thanks so much for your visit!
Blessings,
Debbie

That is a great idea. I finally made a calendar on one page with all the anniversaries and birthdays...and taped it to the inside of my kitchen cupboard. That way, I don't have to remember where the planner went. I KNOW, it is getting THAT bad...but at least I KNOW it!!

Mind if I ask where you found the Vellum quotes?

This is such a great idea. I love how you take us step by step too. I need that. The whole thing turned out wonderful.
I've been drinking iced tea too, and I know what you mean about feeling guilty, but we do have some storms coming this week. I wish we'd get snow, but I think it might be a little too warm.
Blessings,
Marcia
