Decoupage Halloween Style-Tutorial!

"CANDY CORN IS MY FAVORITE VEGETABLE!" DEBBIE BOOTH

One or two last projects before the weekend. Bear with me if you have seen this in some form or fashion before. Above was an unfinished wood triangle piece, I added Mod Podge one strip at a time from top to bottom. Add the strip of glue, add glitter, let dry. Took about 10 minutes to do the whole thing because of drying time.
Needed
Mod Podge
Glass Jar
Halloween Paper
Glitter

Put Mod Podge on jar...add large strip of Halloween Paper. Decoupage over the paper too.
Add a Halloween saying...mine was on the scrapbook paper I was using. Decoupage under and on top of it. Let dry between coats for a smoother finish!
Next, decoupage the rest of your jar and sprinkle glitter all over. Touch up areas over and over until you have good coverage.
Let dry, add sheer wired bow. You can use this for candy, or place a small candle inside...looks very pretty at night with a candle flickering inside.

Kind of Sad and weird...

I'm not posting any pictures... but we had 3 sheep killed...At first we thought maybe we had a mountain lion...the footprints around the sheep were huge. We were out of town and my brother, was staying here to feed animals. Usually a predator will keep coming back again and again to a food source. So every night for 3 nights we had a sheep killed, a fourth one has been attacked but seems to be ok.
In the past we have had our entire barn, filled with hundreds of chickens wiped out in a single night. The weird part is the predator does not always eat everything, but they will kill everything. Coyotes are rampant where we live, but they don't usually kill something larger than themselves. Often dogs will kill sheep but not eat them. Living in the country is wonderful at best, but you do have to deal with animals dying. It unfortunately goes with the territory. I remind myself it is not a person...it is an animal...living on a farm makes you put things in perspective.
Our neighbor across the street believes he shot the predator during the night...he heard the commotion...came over and shot at the animal...we believe now it was a big dog. It has not been back, so we are not absolutely sure...but we are keeping the animals in a pen closer to the barn at night. We have kept the dogs up at night for this very reason, so that they are safe, they are outside dogs, but we want them safe as well!
We came back and had to reassure my brother (from the city) that it was not his fault, these things happen. He felt horrible...
So the final note is....life is often rough...how you deal with it is important. Do you navigate through rough waters successfully? I try to!

Thank goodness this time I did not have to move any of the animals with my husband...our neighbors did it for us before we got back.
Farmer hubby is already working on getting more sheep, so he has things in perspective. In fact he stayed pretty peaceful....I was impressed at him and proud of him.
Blessings,
Debbie

Crows on my Table!

Welcome everyone! Don't you love Susan @http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ ? She has forever changed how we set our tables. Many of us look at dishes with NEW EXCITEMENT and enthusiasm. Napkin rings are as important as rings on our fingers, fabric napkins are back in, forget that they add to our laundry...WE DON'T CARE...AS LONG AS our napkins match the dishes and the dishes make a lovely tablescape matches!
I needed black napkin rings for this tablescape...started hunting in my house....and found Scrapbook frames...small ones. I SPRAY PAINTED them black and added glitter to a few....

Next I had made some salt dough ornaments((THRIFTY) for fall bowl fillers. Cute little cookie cutters for fall were BEGGING me to do something with them!
I added food dye to the dough to get the colors I wanted. The black little cookies are black kitties.
I stenciled some crow napkins and the table runner here http://ribbonwoodcottage.blogspot.com/2009/10/diy-or-dim.html

My husband shocked me with this beautiful pumpkin. He said he knew I wanted one, saw it and got it for me for my table.....OMG (OH MY GOSH!)I WAS: PICK ME UP OFF THE FLOOR HAPPY!

To see how I made this cake plate please visit here! http://ribbonwoodcottage.blogspot.com/2009/10/diy-or-dim.html

ANYTHING YOU SEE THAT IS BLACK...HAS PROBABLY BEEN SPRAY PAINTED!

TODAY I PLAYED ALONG WITH
