This is a tutorial how to take plain wooden plates and make Fall or Halloween plates (for decoration only.)
I googled "free Halloween printables" and "free Vintage Images" and came up with tons of free images. I believe these were from Matthew Mead's site...a few seasons back. But this year he has some amazing new Halloween graphic/images too.
It is best to print out the images on cardstock. The heavier the paper the better the Modge Podge works.....this is what I have found.
Cut out your images, I used a glass bowl, traced around it and cut the images out in a round circle.
I used Halloween images but you could use fall images, leaves, pumpkins, scarecrows.
You could also spray paint the plates orange, or cream...etc. What ever decorative color theme you like.
Next I had picked up (ugly!) wooden plates and bowls at a thrift store and spray painted them with spray paint (my favorite power tool) black matte.
Got out the trusty Modge Podge, and applied the Modge Podge (my other favorite power tool)to the plate, centered my design smoothing the paper with my fingers, to get any bubbles or ripples out.
Next I let it dry. Then added a layer of M.P. on top. Let dry. Spray with a sealer if you prefer to and you are done!
The glass jar in the corner~I added Modge Podge one horizontal layer at a time...glittering one color at a time. Very easy!
If you have any questions I will try to answer them! Thanks for coming by!
