Fall Decor....is on my mind

It is in the hundreds here (106 yesterday)....and I'm longing for cooler weather. We have fires everywhere here in S. California....smoke fills our skies....so we are staying indoors for the most part. They are not so close that we will evacuate but we can see the fires where we are....
I've been at home thinking about fall. I love fall....love apple and pumpkin pies, hot apple cider, hay bales stacked on top of each other waiting to be fed to animals, cooler temperatures, football starting up again...yep I love football...

What are you thinking about today?
PS...daughter calls from college...she is already out of money! Said her books cost more than we anticipated and she needs to buy groceries...food! I said "babe when I was in college, the cafeteria (in other words the pre-paid plan) was good enough for your father and I...it's still good enough for you!" Big smile!

Pink, Watermelon...99cents

You know me I love watermelon! So when I saw these cute little bowls for .99 a piece I grabbed them. I love to be able to serve little things here and there with matching watermelon pieces. However I don't really have an entire set of anything...just a hodge podge...but I'm a hodge podge kind of gal. Most women I think are....when you have to be resourceful...use your head to put things together....
Most women create out of want or necessity! "I want to make that" or "I've got to do this project." And voila, quilts are made, houses are decorated, rooms are painted, walls are painted, diapers are changed with one hand...beauty is created and we bloggers have fits over the cuteness we see on other blogs!

Ok I went a little nuts over the watermelon thing....

Hope you come back for another visit soon! Be sure to visit Bev @ http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/ for Pink Saturday goodness!

Thrifty Treasure and a funny farm story!

I am joining Leigh @ http://lbratina.blogspot.com/ for my first time. I have always wanted to do this since I love Thrifty fun!
Thrifty goodies....I found this great frame for .50 cents. Woohoo!!!! I also found the red shelf and vase for a couple dollars as well.

Next I cross stitched a kitchen motif with a cute little oven in it and then framed it with this frame.

It found its place on my favorite shelf in my kitchen next to a cute little framed piece that I won in a giveaway on http://cherrysjubileehome.blogspot.com/ If you've never been to her blog run don't walk...she has the cutest ideas, great projects and lovely home! The toile planter and black candlesticks (which I spray painted) are also thrifty finds.
Lastly, the little ceramic chicken is passed down from hubby's great grandmother.
Now the funny story!
She taught my hubby how to raise and take care of chickens. The beginning of his illustrious farming career. He wanted to know why the eggs weren't hatching, and why she brought them inside(they needed a rooster and there was no rooster to fertilize them). So she told him they needed to be fertilized. After she went inside, he got some fertilizer(for plants) out of the shed and shoveled some on. He said he might have made a big mess and that was the reason he got a 'spankin' and a 'talking to.' hahahaha

Thanks for visiting.

Kansas house tour-lots of pic's...

While we took kids to college we saw some old college friends of ours who we have remained close too. When my hubby's best friend married this gal I kept thinking she was way too cute, way too fun...and then I saw her house! She decorates so beautifully. It makes me want to come home and redo my house!

This is there living area-family room where the t.v. is. We always laugh and tell funny stories and then end up taking a much needed nap! Can you tell we are reaching middle age. Naps follow storytime!

My sweet friends. She has 6 kids...wow!
This is a little rack she got from my favorite Midwestern store...Hobby Lobby. This is in her guest bath...

She has adorable little lamps that are on in every bathroom. I love this. No one does this in California...but I love it.
Living room again.

This is her kitchen that she has decorated so cute.

Dining area...
Below is a guest room/office.

Next is her laundry room.

Dining area again.
I hope you enjoyed the little Kansas tour.

Pink Saturday! Yippeeee!

Just for fun I wanted to post my Pink Saturdaypost from one year ago almost to the day! Here is a pink screen that I made to cover the stereo in my craft/sewing/guest room.

Be sure to visit Beverly at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com . She is the beauty behind the brains, and several other gals are joining the Pink party.

Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting!
This is artist canvas covered with pink rose fabric and embellished with ribbon, and flowers. I hinged it together on the back side with tough cardboard glued to both sides.

I needed something to cover up my modern cd player and radio. So I decided to make a small room like screen. Instead of a large version I made a small version. I also made one to go in my kitchen to cover the are where my toaster, coffee pot, etc. is. But it is red and I will post it next week, it turned out really cute, red checks, etc. These are pictures from my sewing/craft area. It used to be a dark color on the walls and it just got to me, too dark and depressing. I needed white. So I started spray painting and painting everything white or pink.
My HUBBY actually told me (with a straight face) Home Depot called him and wanted to know why he was buying so much spray paint! I almost believed him, he said they were keeping track of all the spray paint purchases and that he had exceeded the stores limit! Liar Liar pants on fire. Anyhoo...

This last picture is of a wooden piece my hubby (bless his heart)actually got for me for free on the side of the road. (Couldn't believe that one!)He encouraged me to SPRAY PAINT it.
The sweet little rose picture is from his great grandmother. I will post more pictures of the room this week. Too many to post today!
Thanks and have a blessed day!

Uh Oh! Who's been in the pool?

What is going on when your back is turned? All the kids are gone...I expected to be singing, relaxing, not doing much housework...after all when you clean it...it actually stays clean! This of course has been a foreign concept to me...
So this morning I came outside to have some coffee on the deck...lo and behold...the deck was all wet and no one was would admit to what had happened! There was water from the stairs in the pool all the way over to the back door....a trail of mischief so to speak!

And then right in front of me...the culprit committed the crime again. She has her own pool (a kiddie pool from Walmart) and she knows she is not allowed in the big pool.

She couldn't understand what the big deal was all about. She tried to defend herself but...
the evidence could not be denied...and the other dog "Daisy" was dry...doggone it.
Sunscreen anyone?
