Sewing has been happening front and center at my house! This was so easy I had to share it! Think pillow case...with buttons closing it.
I picked out my fabric, I wanted it durable for outside so I used blue ticking...which was the fabric they used to make all sleeping pillows out of.

I cut mine in the shape of a long rectangle...sorry I didn't measure I just cut. Then I folded the fabric in half...so it was the shape of a pillow case.

Put right sides together. But this was the easy part...I promise this pillow took maybe 15-20 minutes to make. The right sides are together and then you fold back about an inch and a half at the top on both sides...this you will sew on the sides, but you will leave it open for stuffing.

Pin, and then sew around 3 sides, just like a pillow case. Turn inside out and stuff. Then I held the open end closed after stuffing, sewed the opening shut on my sewing machine, and added three little red buttons.

I started thinking I could make several! How about a really long one for a cushion on a lounge chair outside. Instead of stuffing it, I could just use a really long King size pillow. My mind is a whirl! Of thoughts that is! hahaha.
Blessings,
Debbie

Oh, Debbie ... I LOVE it! I've been thinking about making some decorative pillows for our bed, and now I am truly inspired!
Your pillows look great. Thanks for the directions. I might be able to do that and I love to change pillows on the screen porch and deck.
Love it, Debbie! So cute. I may have to borrow your idea!
be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Very nice. I love the simpleness of it...but it looks classy!!
Cute idea! Fast, too, as even the buttons could be sewn on with the sewing machine. I hate sewing pillows closed by hand. To me, it is easier to put in a zipper than sew it closed by hand. Thanks for sharing this idea. Sally
Hi Debbie,
What a cute and simple pillow. I too like making pillows, they are always a cozy thing to make and you can do them in so many ways.
Good tutorial!

Love it! I'll show my mom! She's our seamstress!

Great pillow and thanks for the tip. I will need to check that out. Saw a few postings back and your Lab is getting bigger. A really pretty pup too. Too bad they do not stay puppies a bit longer. Have a great weekend and hope you stay cool. In Covina it is hot but the mornings and evenings are nice a cool still.
Adorable pillow Debbie. Did you end up using the rick rack? I didn't see it in the final photo. I've got some fabric I've been meaning to make pillow covers with, and your idea with the little buttons is great. I think I'll get started today.
Blessings,
Marcia
Oh my gosh! I love it!
