Topiary project and Thrift goodies

Can you guess what this is....? It is the beginning of an egg topiary for a Tablescape Thursday! Hahha...I am planning ahead! Glue guns....the real power tool!

I started picking up these little outdoor lanterns at thrift stores, I am going to spray paint them and then place them outside when we start spending more time on the porch!

Sweet little bird nests, I think they are supposed to hold little candles...but I think they are begging for miniature birds, nests, and eggs!
I love a good white vase and the I went nuts when I found these red checked napkins and tablecloths. YIPPEEEE AND A HAPPY DANCE! I THINK MY BLOOD IS PROBABLY RED CHECKED IN REALITY! Buwahhhhaaaahahaha! I love red checks especially in the summer time.

Hello ladies and welcome to another Pink Saturday! Thank you Beverly for hosting this fun!
Check her blog @ http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/for other "Pink Fun."
Don't you love Vintage Easter pictures. I can't seem to get enough of them...they are sweet and I love the little chicks and bunnies, colored eggs etc...

This pink egg is just perfect in this frame. I found several unfinished frames at the thrift store and have since decoupaged scrapbook papers in spring colors on them and then framed these free images that I found on the internet.
I added scrapbook letters from Michaels to this frame to spell "spring"....the photo is from one of many sites I visited....I just googled "free vintage images, Easter" and several sites came up with adorable vintage images to print off for free. I set my printer to "best" and photo paper or photo cardstock...this makes the image much clearer and cleaner looking....

Some of you that follow my blog know that we live on an 'actual' chicken ranch! And we are ordering a few hundred baby chicks (in the mail) this week or next....depending on our weather!

Woohoo! I hope you find something you will enjoy and can maybe print off for Easter decorations at your home. This is one of the most important celebrations of the year at our house and we really celebrate!!!!
Luke 24:6 "He's not Here! Jesus has been brought back to life!...The women left the tomb and told 'everything' to the apostles and all the others!" (These women sounded like bloggers!)

Beverly at
http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/ is the wonderful hostess of all this pink fun!
While browsing on the internet I visited one of my favorite blogs.
She is offering up a free pattern for this sweet little bunny. She made it into a pin to wear for spring. It was so cute I thought I would make a little pillow for Easter with it. I just cut out the pattern onto some white wool and appliqued it using Pink embroidery floss.

I then added some spring buttons (from Joann's fabric store) and embroidered the green stems with a little grass....

And of course I had to add some Pink rick rack.....and then I thought I needed to add a little more Pink, so I then found some old Pink lace that I had and voila!

There you have it! Don't you love all this pink goodness?
Thanks for your visit!

Peep Show and Tell! Oooooh

Hello everyone. I am enjoying being at my mom's house and decorating and cooking all with spring in mind! I bought some Peeps at Big Lots...the grocery stores had already sold out!I wanted to decorate cupcakes (and eat some too!) for spring.

I baked spice cupcakes, frosted them with premade cream cheese frosting, add some springy sprinkles....and then these cute little peeps! I love it!

They are everywhere! Aren't they cute...the pink one is a little chick and she doesn't show up too good....bless her heart!
Today is show and tell at Kelli's, be sure to pop over and say hi, see all her goodies and everyone elses!

Tablescape Thursday

Welcome again to fun and fabulous Tablescape Thursday hosted by Susan @ http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ Be sure to visit her.

I'm at my sweet mother's house who is much better after hip surgery. Boy don't get in the way of one of her walkers when she's heading somewhere she will run you over! Big smile! anyhoo. This is her table and dishes. She has these lovely floral dishes from Target a few seasons back. I used a pink tablecloth, and some of her spring decorations. The centerpiece is an egg wreath laid flat with a hurricane lamp in the center, some Easter grass and a pink candle. Next to it is a small container with silk roses.
Yes my mother's house is overflowing with silk and fake flowers and plants. She adores them. Who am I to tell her that silk and fake are out. She'd be heartbroken. Who are we kidding! She doesn't care what's in or out....touch her silk flowers and you might get wacked with her walker!

Next, my sweet mother in love gave my mom these napkin rings...they are the most beautiful roses. It feels like a silk flower that has been covered with some harder substance. Not sure what they are made of but they are beautiful up close.

For the bird's nest I took a small terra cotta pot and placed a mini wreath on top...filled it with pink grass...added little eggs and little chicks from Michael's.

So glad you stopped by!

Finishing up Projects, aprons....

Thanks to Leslie @ http://sweets-mycountryhome.blogspot.com/ I am getting my projects done....I'm determined to finish them....they are in a stack (about 100 miles high) and I'm finishing them one by one! Leslie posted me and said that it is ok to post about on going projects that you may not have completely finished but you are in the process. Well I am on the way girlfriends to finishing more since I started blogging then before. Don't you know you accomplish more projects because of blogging? I see things in blog land and think "OH MY GOSH I HAVE TO TRY THIS!" IT really adds to the already 1000's of projects I already have waiting for me! This is an apron made out of cotton that looks like redwork (which I adore)....
and this is a cross stitch I finished oh about ^$%#@@ years ago..not sure what all those symbols mean but they do make the point that it has been way too long! Is anyone else out there relating to me....some of you said you finish all your projects....that they don't lay around for long...you do them or get rid of them....I was humbled and realized only I could make myself get up and get going...no one was coming to the house to help me finish all of these projects!
At least I don't think so....
So here are two things I actually completed.

I am truly motivated...I only have a few hundred left....but I will finish....after I have a nap and then maybe some coffee....

Big smile!

Hiding fabric!

Anyone love fabric? Anyone like to buy a little here and a little there? Thinking oh I just need a little of this color, or a lot of that color? Telling myself I will sew with it right away! I think I have been buying fabric since I was in 3rd grade making myself doll clothes, wrap around skirts, doll quilts. I still have some of the fabric. Sometimes I have to hide fabric in closets, suitcases, baskets, tv cabinets, top shelf of pantry, linen closet, bottom of hubby's chest of drawers...just put t-shirts that don't fit on top...he doesn't look beyond the top layer! You never know when you might need it!

Years go by and I realize some of this is starting to look....vintage....how old is the fabric? How old am I? This was popular in the70's and 80's...but not now!

These are my old kitchen cabinets that I put my fabric in.
funny story....in Junior High during home ec...I was sewing a dress. When I stood up and held the dress up....I had sewed it to the skirt I was wearing! Hahahha....where's the seam ripper?
Proverbs 31:22 says she makes bed coverings for herself; notice it is more than one. I think that means we should make as many quilts and wall hangings as possible in one's lifetime!!!! You can never have too much quilt fabric. It makes me wonder how much fabric the woman in Proverbs 31 had, and then where did she hide it?

Welcome everyone to another Pink Saturday and our sweet hostess Beverly @ http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/. I'm so glad you stopped by.
For those of you who have followed my blog you know I am staying at my mom's most of the time since she had surgery. Hubby goes home to do chores at our farm then comes back and we all stay at 'grandma's house'...

We brought our sheep with us to graze on her lower fenced in yard. They love it.

I decorated her table (will post on thursday's tablescape with Susan@http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/) but here is a little foretaste.
I made this little bird and eggs decoration for her dining room table.

But while we were gone to grandma's someone was busy at our house and poisoned our wonderful labs. My honey got home with our daughter and found them. It was so sad. The neighbors across the street found their two dogs dead as well. I am sooo very sad. It was a terrible thing to find and nothing to do to solve it or make it right.Hubby called the sheriff and took the dogs to the vet for an autopsy. But get this, my husband found the bowl...with the bacon grease mixed with the remains of gopher poison. So it looks like we may know who did it. We live out in the country, and have known all of our neighbors for years....but this happened to be renters nearby. We are terribly sad and will be getting some puppies soon. We just bred our chocolate (Bali) with a female, and thankfully will get a puppy from this litter. I am thankful for that little blessing.
Sorry to cast a sad moment but I wanted to thank all of you who have left the sweetest comments to me all week. This happened two days ago, and I was so grateful for kind neighbors (you) and your wonderful words earlier this week. You never know what your words mean to people or what they are actually going through....so I want to thank you!
