Hello friends. While reading The Inspired Room and thinking about "It's a Beautiful Life"... I thought about all the blogs I love looking at...the different beautiful homes and the colors they decorate with...Then I thought...what are the colors I enjoy the most in my home surrounding me? What colors inspire me and/or make me feel peaceful when I walk in the room? I love the blogs that focus on white shabby chic color schemes, and I love the prim blogs that have dark red, Americana Blues, Mustard yellows... I seem to lean toward cottagey colors, with lots of white. But the colors I enjoy the most are reds, yellows (gold), and green. Most of the quilts, or bed coverings in our house have these colors in them.

Do you need all white to feel serene?
Do vibrant colors make you feel happy?
Are you more relaxed with a subtle color scheme?

Blessings,
Debbie
PS...I gave up mauve years ago when I found it didn't blend with Christmas colors, talk about an awful color scheme!

Debbie,
Good morning. Isn't it funny how color schemes matter when it comes to Christmas decorating. I think if I lived in one house long enough I would try a nice soft blue color some where. Blue is generally not a color I work well with even though I love it. For resell purposes I usually stick with basic shades of brown and throw in other colors for punch. One day I will stay in a house permanently and color walls etc: to my hearts content.
Have a great weekend.

Those are great pictures and I just love those colors ! I love the warm reds, tans, and black through my house. they make me feel warm and cozy ! I do love the cottage colors too ~ So relaxing ! Have a great weekend Debbie !
Love your little quilt of the bonnet girls- I have one similar to it.
I have kind of a split personality when it comes to color- I love a golden yellow and burnt red, which is most of my house right now- but I just melt in white with pale soft blues. I feel that lately I'm moving more to the soft white minimal way of decorating- I feel a change coming on :}
Thanks for sharing- Have a great day.
Good Morning Debbie ~
Great post! I too LOVE red. I just picked up a red jacket and it really changes my day when I wear it. I heart those rooster chairs...can they come to visit me in Oregon? I'll take good care of them. They are great!
Have a great and colorful weekend.
Ramona
Love all the cheerful colour!
ENJoy your day!

Unfortunately, I don't think I have a favorite color scheme. Maybe that's why my house is such a mishmash! Your pictures of your colors are so pretty and inspiring. I enjoyed seeing them. laurie
You do those colors so well Debbie!
I am drawn to warm colors - and aged colors, Nothing too bright or bold! Just old !!
I love your Rooster chairs! Did you have it done yourself or did you buy them ?
Hi Debbie,
What a fun post this was to read! I enjoy many different color schemes. The rich earthy colors of fall just warm my heart and I sometimes wish I could surround the colors like a blanket over my shoulders.
I also like the primitive colors such as deep red, navy blue, mustard and black. They make me feel comfortable and cozy.
French country colors such as blue, white, yellow and red make me happy! They're so bright and joyful!
I would love to change my home decor regularly but all it takes is time and money. :)
Have a bright and sunshiney day!
Hugs & blessings~ Birgit
I like different colors in different rooms~I can't say which I prefer best! Purples, greens & yellows in the kitchen, pink in one bath, blue and gold in another and yet maroon & sand in another bath! The master bedroom is in dark blue and gold, The laundry room (is a work in progress) is a happy mix of Mary Englebright type brights, the living room is neutrals, my office/craft room (another work in progress) will also be brights when all is said and done! Having it in writing now, it all sounds awful!!! But it works for us.
PS Love your quilts!
Hi Debbie,
I have alot of RED in my house-I just love how it brightens up the place then I also mix in a lot of Sage Green for warmth. I haven't tired of these colors ever and they always look amazing at Christmas!
Have a great weekend,
Robin~♥
Debbie, that is a good question! ofr me, I think peacefulness comes to me when a room isn't so busy and feels balanced. There are colors I prefer, but I think any color can be relaxing if used properly (except for neon colors!).
I am going to think about this question for awhile and see if I come up with a differnt answer! LOL! Can you tell that I haven't really thought a lot about this?
Have a nice weekend!
Debbie- I gave up mauve too! I am a true scarlet red and green Christmas girl through and through!
Debbie,
I tend to like different colors I guess, but red is ALWAYS a color for me! The one thing I know is that I have to have color...no white walls for me!
I enjoyed all your colors!
Blessings to ya,
Tammy
Funny, I too have mauve and I love it until Christmas time comes around because nothing matches. LOL
Hey girl, great post! My hubby loves warm colors so no matter what color scheme I dream up, he is most happy when they are WARM tones so we stick with that! For marital happiness! :-)
xoxo & Blessings
