Ladies Christmas Brunch...

COOKING, BAKING, WASHING A MILLION DISHES....RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS.
We cooked/catered a ladies Christmas brunch (it was beautiful) a week before Christmas. We made egg casseroles, hash brown casseroles, sausages in biscuits (sausage in a blanket) dipped in warm maple syrup...yummy!
Then we made cookies and cupcakes, bread pudding, Red Velvet cupcakes,....
It took forever to bake them in my little oven!
My sister in law made these adorable goodies....
Nothing was left after the brunch...oh my gosh! It was almost embarassing....like the women hadn't eaten in days (big smile). I honestly thought we had made too much food...NOT!

My sister in law's hubby made this pedestal for the cookies and cupcakes. He used cake boards from Joann's and covered them with foil, glued on the tinsel and then used plastic cups in between the boards. Adorable....not permanent but adorable for this party!
We also baked 4 hams, biscuits and gravy, made a few fruit salads and punch! Too much fun...

Blessings,

Debbie

A big change...

It is a little sad to take down all the Christmas decor....I'm not quite ready to do it...yet I am. I'm ready for a little order and organization in my house. I felt like once Dec. 1st hit...I had roller skates on rushing through each day and a pace that was way toooooooo fast! big smile. Can you relate?

My little farmhouse cottage had turned into an event planning extravaganza...whether we were ready or not!

This year is bringing quite a bit of change for my husband and I! Our children are all in college...and they are loving it...which soothes my soul.

But we have begun adding onto our house to make things ready for my dear parents who will be moving in with us. They are ready for the move in some ways and yet not sure in other ways.

Our Christmas was precious in that it was the last time celebrating with everyone at "Grandma's house." But now there are certain circumstances that are requiring us to pull together wisely and work on navigating through this season...successfully. I believe that when you honor your parents....it is a good thing. You can honor them by cooking a meal, providing security in an un-secure time, a phone call...loving them when the future seems uncertain and assure them you will be there for them.

They will be moving in on the ground floor so that they don't need to climb stairs....when you are in your eighties this is never easy...climbing...

We will move upstairs and change things around to suit us...instead of the current play station, tv, game room! Big smile.
Hubby says I can decorate the entire upstairs however I want...it will be the master bedroom and bathroom now....for years it has been the kids hangout....remember all the cords, remote controls, computers, and play stations? I'm sending them all back with the kids! Big smile!
Blessings,
Debbie

Sparkly & Silver Reindeer Table....

Merry Christmas! This is my my favorite Tablescape so far...and hubby said he thought it was his favorite!

I have found the most wonderful candleholders that have reindeers on them!

The centerpiece was an ugly color that screamed to be spray painted! Big smile! I tied a gorgeous bow around it and put a small Christmas tree inside of it. Then around it I used various silver candle holders with candle rings finishing off the sparkly look.

The pinecone was painted and glittered.
This is for Tablescape Thursday! Please look at all the gorgeous tables @ Susan's @
Between Naps on the Porch.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU. GIVE YOURSELF A BIG HOLIDAY HUG FROM ME!
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE AN AMAZING CHRISTMAS!
BLESSINGS,
DEBBIE

Christmas Quilts, Stitcheries and Cross stitch

Merry Christmas! We are on the countdown....I'm not stitching anything now...I'm finishing up shopping for my mom, and wrapping stuff for her so I can finish my things. My parents are so sweet and wonderful. My mother loves to give everyone something~ She has instilled this giving spirit in all of us and our children.
Below is a cross stitch project I did finish. But it hasn't been framed yet.

This one was made a year ago....I think it needs to be a wall hanging since it is sosoooooo long!

UUUUUUHHHHH this was made in 2002!f Oh my!

This was made about 18 years ago...sorry it is blurry.

This stitchery I found at Salvation Army! I love it...it is even cuter up close!

I try to make something every year. I start in August and stitch like crazy. Usually though I finish the project AFTER Christmas!

Below is my favorite quilt I ever made using a Thimbleberries pattern.

You have got to realize when you are my age (almost 50~I was born on leap year! so I'm really 12) you have been doing projects for years, collecting things for years and you realize you need to start giving things to your kids to start their Christmas collections!
Various old and tattered and vintage quilts! I love red and white quilts.
Thanks so much for coming by! I love all the visiting!
Tomorrow I will post my winter wonderland and silver decorations for Christmas!
Blessings,

Debbie
