Black and Pink Christmas planner-2

Making an organizer/Christmas planner is just a small part of helping things run smoothly for the holidays...just like at home you don't want to run out of toothpaste, trash bags, diapers, toilet paper....you don't want to run out of food or baking supplies during the holidays....so you PLAN AHEAD!
I have learned our family is able to do more for others if our ship is heading in the right direction...we are training our kids to give to others, cook at church for others, be aware of others during the holidays...all it takes is a little navigation on our part to steer them to the right shore! With that in mind...
I wanted to begin by showing you some planners this week, everyday that I made...and others I found that someone else made that are 'too' cute! Some are quick and easy so you can get goin' on your shopping, organizin' and plannin' and cookin'!

First of all I took a package of blank cards that I bought in the dollar bin at Michaels, and I glued the backs together...

making a sort of book...I used about five cards...gluing the fronts and backs together making sure there was a design on the front and back of the book. Next

I cut pink cardstock to make a book binding of sorts that would go around the spine of my new little book...I glued this on and then set a heavy book on top of it for a few hours so that it would dry and hold together well.

Next I used a McGill paper punch (from Michaels) and punched out tabs for my section dividers.
I added a small December 08' calendar that I ran off from the computer (4x6) glued it on...
I also like lines...when I am writing...to keep things straight, so next I just used some colored index cards-hot pink...this one is for my daughter!
The sections were shopping, gifts, addresses (email to send her friends an e-Christmas card)

Last I added letter stickers spelling planner, flowers, ribbon and a button.
You could use any color scheme, add as many cards that you want so you have enough papers. The thing I like about this little planner is that you could throw it in your purse...the one I have made for myself is much larger ( I will show at the end of the week) because it needs to hold more info: cooking, decorating ideas, menu planning along with lists, card list, address book, page protectors with cookie and dessert recipes, decorating ideas, etc. But I will show that later...this is just to get you started.

Here are two other adorable sites with planner ideas...

My organizing tip is this: I take a sticky notepad (the little square ones) when I shop...I stick one with a name on it to the shirt or item I am buying, sometimes I pin it...Last year I had to buy 11 mens/teenage guys shirts or items and when I got home I knew what went where because I had marked them at the store in the cart. This helps immensely when you are buying several items....only to get home and think "Now who did I get this for?"
PS tomorrow I will show a much more traditional planner...these are very easy to reproduce, in fact they went so quick I thought I would make one for my mom and mother in law!
Proverbs 3:5,6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not unto your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will DIRECT your paths."

I really like the sticky tag idea for gifts. I do that when I buy fabric so that I can remember if it's the binding, border, etc. It's so easy to forget those things but I'd never thought of it for gifts! I like the planner too.

Another terrific project! Oh, how I love to be organized...

I thought of you today, Debbie, as I was putting the finishing touches on a Christmas basket. After all, Christmas is a wonderful time for a little extra sparkle. I'll share that little creation on Wednesday.

We saw our first snowflakes in Main today. And our high was 36ยบ. Winter's coming!

What a sweeet planner. I have a journal I bought at a garage sale awhile back that I plan on covering with cherry papers and using it for all the projects I want to get done before the holidays. cherry
