Wedding fun and giveaway!

My daughter in law's grandmother made these amazing cakes. I was so amazed, they were beautiful and delicious. Everything was covered with black and fuschia table coverings.

My sweet daughter and I, we both boohooed during the wedding. So much for being the strong female, I knew my hubby would boohoo so I was trying not to. I thought people might think boy those two are sure crybabies. (smile) Oh well!
If you can look on the table there were the most adorable little plastic spoons her mom made. They were white plastic spoons with chocolate kisses on it tied in white tool, with a white ribbon boy on it. Then a little message that said "a spoonful of kisses from the bride and groom". They were so adorable and simple. I took about 3, ok maybe 5 and ate the chocolate kisses while no one was looking.
How cute the m&m's were. She ordered them on line.

I wanted to announce that now that the wedding is over! I am going to have a wedding bits and pieces give away! I have some adorable satin fabric, ribbon, vintage buttons and such that I am going to post a pic of tomorrow and have a giveaway! I was so blessed that I want to pass the blessing along! Tomorrow I will post pictures of the prizes and info about the giveaway. Thank you for visiting. Blessings, Debbie

The Happy Couple

Wow, our family is blessed!

More wedding pics

My lovely daughter was a bridesmaid. These two met at soccer camp and my daughter said you have got to meet my brother!!! My daughter introduced them and it was a recipe for love!

This is my other son who informed us he will pick out his wife to be, he is fully capable of finding her himself! Well, well.

Beautiful Bride

Wowee Kazowee, she looked so amazing! My son is married to this beautiful girl!
Here is a pic of my daughter and I with the bride. I love this! It was hot but cooled down with some cloud cover. Everything went so well. Thank you God!

Precious flower girls!

Finally, the day arrived for my precious little nieces to wear the flower girl dresses I made. Oh my goodness. They took my breath away, so did my sons in their tuxes, my daughter in her bridesmaid dress. My hubby looked amazing in his tux too. It was a day from heaven. My new daughter in law looked lovely in her wedding dress, I will post pic's of her as well.

Wedding do's and don'ts

I am getting ready for my son's wedding, wrapping up small things...We had our rehearsel dinner last night and it was amazing. We have prayed since our son was young that he would marry the right girl. She is wonderful and we feel so blessed of God in the midst of all this. But my hubby and I have been to several weddings and discussed many do's and don'ts! We ended up laughing at all the scenario's and actual situations we have seen.
After you read some of my list please post your comments to me about do's and don'ts and I will post them. This hopefully might help some young girls in the future! Blessings, Debbie

-Don't wear white, only the bride should
-Don't be so loud that everyone looks at you instead of the bride
-Do use your manners
-Don't have the mother of the bride sing a bridal song that has 12 verses in it, in an opera squealing, barely hitting the notes voice!
-Never wear a tuxedo that allows your ankles or calves to show.
-Make sure the sprinklers are off at an outdoor wedding.
-If you are a guest don't wear an outfit that you would only wear to nightclubs!
-Make sure the bride eats so she does not faint in the middle of the wedding. (I actually sang at a wedding where the bride and her maid of honor fainted at the same time, fell my way and knocked all music and microphone on me as they crashed into the grand piano!) They took an extremely long time to rouse, the minister asked me to keep singing to take up extra time. I had already sang my wedding songs and could only think of one song-Cum by yah!!! This is absolute truth!
-Check the bottoms of the grooms shoes for hidden messages printed by groomsmen!
Please add more, I will post them!

Finished flower girl dresses

I finally finished the little flower girl dresses. Yippeeee. The back of the dresses have tiny little roses where the buttons are. They are much prettier up close! I will post pictures of the real flower girls in them after the wedding. I'm off to the wedding chapel tomorrow to see my son get hitched to an absolute doll!

My hubby seems to be having a harder time than me. I tell people we are madly in love after 28years, mostly mad but very in love!!!

vintage purses

OOOHHH, look at these vintage purses I got at a thrift store. I wasn't trying to start a new collection, but it sort of happened. I started looking for a purse to take to my son's wedding and all of the sudden it hit me! All these adorable beaded and vintage purses got my motor going! A woman can have too many wrinkles and love handles, but she can never have too many purses! Shoes! Ok and clothes, etc....

Blessings, Debbie

It wasn't a collection I was trying to start, really! I just love purses, and I started looking for the perfect one to take to my son's wedding and well, I found several! Yipee! A woman can have too many wrinkles and love handles, but never too many purses! The only problem with these small ones is that my hubby's wallet and phone won't fit in them. Mr. Farmer in the dell needs his own satchel or something! What is with men wanting us to carry everything?

Lacey goodies

I just wanted to do a quick post of the lacey lovelies I bought at a local thrift store. I was so excited. They were in a heap next to this old vintage purse. I scooped them up and ran for the nearest sales person. Yipee, I just love lace especially hand made lace!

My son is getting married in a couple of days so I am off trying to be emotionally strong and smiling at all my relatives! There seems to be more of them since I got married!

Blessings, Debbie

Grandma's quilts

This lovely iris beauty was made by my grandmother who is from Carmi, Illinois. There are many colors of iris' and I counted many, many green leaves. It is by far one of my favorite quilts and beautiful to hang for spring. I have a wall quilt shelf that I display seasonal quilts on.

This quilt is all hand pieced and hand quilted. I can't imagine how much time it must have taken to make. What gets me is that most of the people in my grandmother's family are just not that interested in quilts or quilting. I cannot even imagine that! I see a beautiful quilt and I kind of go crazy inside. Or looking at quilt fabric before the quilt is made also makes me excited inside. A good quilt show can push me over the edge of being visually stimulated! How about you?

Grandma's quilts

Here is a lovely quilt my grandmother and some other relatives hand pieced and hand quilted. My mom has passed this lovely quilt down to me.

It is hand appliqued and embellished. I just love the butterfly pattern. Every butterfly is made with different fabric, possibly from different dresses that the girls wore. There were 7 girls and 3 boys in my moms family. She said she wanted to make sure she got the quilts so she bought several of them. She said buying them kept the others from having any hard feelings that she got them. I am very appreciative that they are now being passed down to me. Blessings, Debbie

Tunis Sheep-chit chat with ewe!

These are our sheep, they are called Tunis sheep. They were brought over by Thomas Jefferson. You can't exactly tell since they are eating but they have a dark reddish brown face and legs. They are great sheep and not as difficult to have as other breeds. We have had alot of sheep since we have been married (28 years today) and some breed of sheep have more problems birthing than others.

Did you know that sheep are one of the only animals that have to have a shepherd. They need someone to watch over them. Sheep are slightly dumb. If they get their foot caught in the fence rather than struggling like a dog would they get tired and just lay down. I can't tell you how many times we have had to dislodge their head out of the fence because they are trying to eat something on the other side of the fence and they get stuck and don't know what to do.

When we were first married I heard a knocking at the door late at night. I went to the door and there was our ENORMOUS ram. He had gotten out of his pen (farm animals are famous for this, especially before church when you have heels on!) and he wanted to come in for a late night chit chat! So I slammed the door in his face. They love to butt you with their head till they knock you down! I have had that happen too many times. Kind of a testosterone thing! I couldn't imagine that big fur ball in my little house so the kids and I waited for our shepherd to come home and put his sheep up! Baaaad sheep.
A cute little lamb is one thing, sweet and soft. But when they get big and get out and run around in circles while you chase them? I have literally heard them laugh as I chase them, giggling shamelessly as I gasp for air!
One sheep was heard to have said "come on let's all go out the driveway."

Psalm 23 "The Lord is my shepherd... he leadeth me and he restores my soul..."

Old House Quilt

I was cleaning in my sewing room and came across this old quilt I had made in the 80's. You would piece together your block and then put batiste fabric over it and begin quilting. It was called shadow quilting.
I am surprised that I had quilted it so well, I don't do much hand quilting, I am into machine quilting now. Much faster to get projects done.
I think I am going to hand it on a black iron curtain rod in my laundry room.

Thrift store find!

Wow, look at this great thrift store find. It is a large glass jar filled to the brim with buttons, snaps, lace and trims. It must be very old because it also had at the bottom those parts of a girdle that would grasp the old nylons and attach them to the girdle. I can't think of a name for them.
Anyhow I was thrilled because there were many old type vintage buttons in the jar. I can't wait to start a new project and use them!

Yipee and who doesn't love old buttons. They are so much fun to look at and wonder what kind of outfit they used to be on!

Isaiah 45:3 says "I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places."
Wow this felt like a treasure to me. When I am creative with something I have found I believe I am honoring God, he was the most creative of all! Isaiah 42:5 "God, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spreads forth the earth and that which comes from it, who gives breath to the people on it, and spirit to those who walk on it:"

Wedding Pillow

Here is the wedding pillow for my son's wedding. It is made of satin with tulle for the big bow. It will have a large lilly or white rose for the center but I put a vintage button there for now. It is beautiful up close, I actually made two since there are two little guys carrying pillows. Only a week a way!!! Blessings, Debbie

Lemon to die for dessert

This dessert is so yummy and easy to make. It takes :
One large container of Cool Whip
2 small boxes of instant lemon pudding
milk for the pudding (4 cups)
1 can condensed milk( I use half the can)
and an angel food cake Mix the instant pudding together, after the pudding is made, add the cool whip saving back one cup for the top of the dessert. Add half of the can of condensed milk to the mixture. Next you are going to layer the torn angel food cake with the mixture. You want to end up with the pudding mixture on top with the dollop of cool whip on top.
Refrigerate till cool and set, then enjoy!!!!

Pink Gingham Needlebook

I wanted to make my future daughter in law something for the wedding. I have been to so many weddings where somebody needed straight pins, bobbie pins, safety pins, etc. So I thought I would put this all together in a cute way and give it to her.
I took pink fabric and sewed it in a rectangular shape, filled it with a thin sheet of batting. Then I used white felt to sew a couple pockets on and made another page to put the needles and pins in. Sewed a couple of buttons to it and ribbons, it turned out cute. I also put some self adhesive velcro in the little pockets to hold things together.

The one thing nice about using the pink felt for the pockets, is that they didn't need to be lined or formed. You just cut the felt in the shape you want and then you sew it on. Ta Da! I love it. I want to make one for myself.
I made the see through pocket out of fabric from the ring bearer pillows I made for the wedding. It is sparkly and sheer.

I also am going to put some extra buttons in there just because they are cute and they match the needle book!
Lastly I sewed a pretty pink heart on the front and then tied a green bow on to keep it closed. My son gets married in a week and a half, wahhhh. But his bride to be is a doll! Thank the Lord!!!
Have a blessed day. Debbie

More trash to treasure!!!

Hello thanks for visiting! There are several posts to look at since it wouldn't all fit on one!!!! These wooden pieces were bought at a thrift store, glue together and painted white. I love to buy wooden bowls, plates, candlesticks and then glue them together to make serving dishes.

You know it occurred to me that God in His greatness was the first to turn trash into treasure! He takes our brokeness and makes us new again. He makes us white as snow! Wow, talk about divine shabby chic!!!

Trash to treasure

Hi thanks for visiting! I had to do this in a few posts because my computer couldn't seem to load everything, so be sure to scroll down! Thanks.

This is an old dresser my hubby and I painted white and there are the cutest little thinga ma bobs that we added to the front but you can't see them. Whaaaaa! I painted the tray on top dark navy and added stenciling that spelled America.

These frames were awful, so I painted them dark black/navy and then stenciled stars at the corners. I love to repaint frames and reuse them! They hold stitcheries I did many birthdays ago!!

Here is yet another metal basket that I barely spray painted. I usually add plants to it that are seasonal, mums for fall, poinsettias for winter just to change it around. Thanks so much for visiting!
