A new Year? A new body? A new Plan?

Happy New Year Everyone! You know what this means? We have to make New Year's resolutions! Have you made any?
I know my house is begging for me to make a new resolution for organizing all the closets and cupboards....my body is begging for a diet, especially one that cuts out sugar, chocolate and coffee! Are you with me? My schedule is begging for a break, not so much soccer! More family time.
And under the bed, my bed actually fussed at me that there was too much stuff under there...something about dust bunnies? I have no idea what that's all about!

dust bunny

Slang. a loose, tangled ball of dust, lint, hair, etc., esp. as found under a low piece of furniture.

It's just me and the chickens!

Hey everyone! I hope you all are well! I have to admit I had a wonderful Christmas with our kids, cousins, aunts and uncles, grandparents, nieces and nephews all around....there was lots of presents, laughing, story telling and lots of chocolate. The food was wonderful!
It snowed and was a beautiful Christmas and the kids had fun in the snow!

How wonderful!!!! But I have noticed something perhaps you too can relate....now that the presents are opened, all the sweets have been devoured...everyone has taken off! Just when it is time to START PICKING UP AND CLEANING AND PUTTING AWAY-----EVERYONE is gone! It's just me and the chickens!

The presents are put away, dishes have been washed, the fridge is filled with leftovers! Oh my I haven't caught up on sleep yet! How about you? I feel blessed with my family home, but now I am ready to tackle the mess!
Does it ever end?
I got out the broom, the mop, the Lysol (I secretly enjoy spraying this everywhere!) and lots of hot soapy water-I was like a tank waiting to target a big location-kids were heard shrieking "here she comes-look out". Kaboom! The cleaning has begun!

Don't mess with me when I have a broom in my hand!
Wrappers for "Little Debbie's"(chocolate of course!) were found under the couch! It is amazing-how these college kids act like they were Born in a barn!
I am already perusing organizing books and magazines, looking at sites that deal specifically with getting your home in order!
There are huge amounts of information on decluttering and organizing and yet my house seems to be over run with things...and I don't know where to put it all.

I have a few (ok a lot!) craft, quilting, scrapbooking, decorating magazines and I think I may need to get rid of some I have a few too many. Do you keep all your craft magazines? Where do things go when the cupboards are full, the closets have too many pairs of this and that (don't touch my shoes!) and you can't find that one outfit you want! Oh my! I need a book with my name on it, where someone holds my hand and says ok this goes 'here' and you need to get rid of 'this', you don't use it anyhow!
I almost feel driven to clean and organize, get rid of the clutter. Does anyone else feel this way. It just kind of hits me after Christmas this need for spring/winter cleaning! I find myself cleaning out drawers, throwing things away, dusting hard to reach items!

Do you make lists? Do you devour organizing articles hoping to find what can work for you? I am more organized now than I was as a new bride, but I still feel like I need....help, pictures, visual help! hahaha. What I'd like is a full time organizer in my home saying "Oh don't worry about a thing! I would be happy to organize your home and make it cute at the same time!"

Blessings to you all!
"Blessed shall you be when you come in and blessed shall you be when you go out." Deuteronomy 28:6 ( I wonder if there were closets to go in and out of back then?)

This, this is Christ our King...

MERRY CHRISTMAS! We are just about ready for the celebration. When everyone arrives we visit, we enjoy a meal together and share stories of Christmas' past and relatives that have gone before us that were precious. Then we read the Christmas story in Luke...sing carols by the piano. Finally...the little kids say 'finally' we get to open gifts!

From our home to yours, I pray you have a wonderful and Merry Christmas. Remember to take lots of pictures to remember the precious moments, precious people, and this precious event. Hugs to you all.

Christmas Fun!

Merry Christmas everyone! I don't know about you but I am not ready!!!! AAAAhhhhhKKKK! Shopping seems never ending! I'm ready for a long winter's nap. I woke up this morning after 4 1/2 hours of sleep with my hubby standing over me..."are you ready to get up and clean the kitchen...I'll help if you make coffee." Oh my...I could hardly function. We had our whole church over last night for a party, food, little gifts (some fun-sand paper and paint thinner, some great- real jewelry!) We had a great time...but I need sleep....
Those bags under my eyes are so big they need luggage tags!
I'd like to build a fire, snuggle under a quilt....drink hot coffee (caffeine anyone?) and watch my daughter wrap ALL the gifts!

I wanted to show you a quick craft...I of course had to use more glitter! First I used a paint brush and elmers glue, painted free hand the holly shape, sprinkled green glitter on it. After it dried I painted the rest of the jar with elmer's glue and sprinkled on coarse glitter. Hot glued the red buttons on and added ribbon. I love it with the candy canes in it!

Another Santa I cross stitched a few years ago...he is one of my favorites

I am very happy right now...here is my daughter (on left) and my wonderful daughter in love (on right)...they love each other and they are both killer soccer players!

The mountain you see from our front living room window.

My middle son with me...boy my hair looks blonde! YIkes! He is wonderful! He is my musical one. My oldest son here with his sweet bride, loves to sing...bless his heart...he misses the right notes...but oh how he sings...we told him to stick to preachin'....loves to tell stories!I am sooo blessed! So grateful! So honored...So very tired! Hahaha
I pray you have a lovely Christmas with friends and family...peaceful and filled with hope!

Yipppeee, it's beginning to look alot like Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas at our house. I have loved baking, decorating, and getting ready for company, family, church party at our house, Santa....ok I'm Santa...and everything else! Hahaha...I get up early shower, put tons of makeup on (to cover the circles under my eyes-not much sleep) and run 90 miles an hour probably like many of you trying to get everything done! Are we having fun yet?
I'd like to go ice skating with my honey, Christmas shopping, Starbucking....big smile!
The 25th is almost here! These little guys are getting ready, they have their Christmas sweaters on, sitting by the fire(place).
And it snowed at our house!!!! Oh my, our kids came home (so thankful to God for that) and everything is covered with white.
See the little sled...I won't fit on that in a million years! Not with my (happy) self!
I just love the snow....of course where we live (in the mountains above Palm Springs) it gets really cold and really hot!
Wish you all could stop by for warm cookies, apple cider, coffee and our favorite creamer....hot tea...whatever you wish and we could visit and share funny stories! Or you could even take a nap! I know I would love to!
This is my sweet mom, me, my two (pregnant nieces) and my wonderful sister in love at a baby shower. Family is so precious to me....you realize your time is finite (limited) with those you love and it is important to record the memories.
Precious family and friends
Precious moments
Precious memories
Precious Christmas!
Blessings to all of you!

Holiday Open House Tour

Merry Christmas everyone! Grab a cup of coffee or cocoa, and a nice warm cookie from the oven....mmmm....and enjoy the visit! http://asoftplacetoland-kimba.blogspot.com/ Kimba is the hostess of all this fun...be sure to check out the button on the left near the top, it will take you on the rest of the tour...and thanks so much for dropping by!

The funny thing is my hubby does not like red...especially in the house...he is a farmer and says it is too bright for inside! I told him (the chicken rancher) to think of it as the color of a Rhode Island Red Rooster!

That seem to settle him down, you have to talk farm talk to a farmer. My living room is filled with sparkle, reds and whites and lovingly made items...quilts, pillows, family photo's...

Sweet little winter bird on a nest...next to cross stitched pictures of Joseph, Mary and little baby Jesus. I did one every year till I finished...whew!

On our grand piano I have a large nativity with many angels...

Here are two quilts I made years ago...I love to snuggle in a quilt in the morning when there is snow outside!

Next I bought these wonderful boxes years ago and stacked them, I love them and store Christmas ornaments in them.

And I had to show you this...our guest bath...it is the first room you see since EVERYONE uses our back door!

I add silk poinsettias everywhere and to most of my silk plants...I know I know...silk plants are a no no!

And in the kitchen/dining room I made a sweet little angel from a glass bottle... (Hark the Herald Angels sing!)

Let Heaven and Nature sing.... The table is set, the food is being cooked, yum, it is time to get this show on the road! When is dinner?

In the kitchen by the work island this little gathering is in a snug spot!

I have a sweet little tree in the kitchen decorated with gingerbread ornaments.
This wonderful JOY sign is from my swap partner Cathy @http://cranberrycottage.blogspot.com/ bless her heart she sent me the most wonderful things that made me giggle and yell "Yippeee" in the post office!
Salt dough painted and glittered....my kids wondered why I even bothered making fake food! They want real sweets, and they got them!

OK I admit, I have a thing for red and white, especially quilts! I get weak in the knees when I see a red and white quilt!

Next is my laundry room, it gets a sweet little Christmas facelift!

Everyone does laundry! Even Santa!

Next is a little vintage snowman scene...with a wonderful download from Karen Harvey Cox @http://karenharveycox.blogspot.com/ that I framed. It is the cutest snowman! I just love it! Check her beautiful Christmas artwork that she is providing for free for you to print out! It is so lovely you will just have a fit!

Have a lovely Christmas! I love it when neighbors come by, so thank you for your visit!

"Then the angel said...I bring you good tidings of great joy...for there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:10,11 JOY TO THE WORLD!
